His research focuses on criminal law in the field of new technologies. This includes above all the law of biomedicine (life sciences law) with its legal-philosophical, medical-ethical and sociological references. In the area of technology law, I am particularly interested in the criminal law consequences of digitalization, automation and artificial intelligence. Ongoing researches include genome editing/CRISPR, technical implants at the end of life ("cyborg medicine") and negligence liability for technical innovations. The overarching research perspective "transformative technologies" brings these projects together and reflects on them from the perspective of the foundations of law. A second research focus is the fundamental and comparative legal investigation of the role of criminal law for the integration of religious and ideological diversity in modern societies (neutrality as a legal principle). Selected teaching areas
- philosophy of law
- sociology of law
- revision course in Criminal Law (Criminal Law AT and BT for advanced students in preparation for the Bachelor's final examination in Criminal Law)
- medical criminal law
- commercial criminal law of the doctor
- ethics and law of biomedicine
