In 2025, the Federal Council decided to comprehensively revise the Reproductive Medicine Act (RMA) in order to adapt it to changing social conditions. The focus is on the approval of egg donation and the opening up of egg and sperm donation to unmarried couples. The forthcoming total revision of the RMA raises a number of fundamental and regulatory issues that have not yet been clarified.
