Important information on mobility stays

When do mobility stays fit best into my studies?

  • We recommend planning mobility stays during your master's studies. Under certain circumstances, the last two semesters of bachelor's studies are also suitable.

What do you need to consider?

  • Plan your mobility stay in the long term and do not make it dependent on future examination results.
  • Credit points from other universities are generally credited on a one-to-one basis and there is no minimum or maximum number of points that must be achieved.
  • You cannot take the specialist examinations in private law, public law and criminal law during your mobility. If you are taking an examination at another German-speaking faculty, please send a copy of the application by e-mail to the Office of the Dean of Studies at the Faculty of Law in Baselbefore the examination.
  • Insufficient ex aminations in the same subject can be repeated either at the faculty during the mobility or in Basel together with other examinations.
  • Passed examinations cannot be repeated.
  • The expenses of the mobility stay must be borne by the student. Information on possible scholarships and grants can be found here. For mobility stays within the Erasmus program, you must register in the University of Basel's MoveOn database for administrative purposes.
  • Alternatives to mobility stays in Germany and abroad are the master's degree programs EUCOR and Bilingue offered by the Faculty of Law.
  • For information on recognized credits and grades as well as all questions regarding mobility, please contact Dr. Patrick Ebnöther from the academic advisors of the Faculty of Law. An overview of the regulations can be found in the information sheet Recognition of legal achievements from other educational institutions.
