Swiss Moot Court
What is the Swiss Moot Court?
The Swiss Moot Court is a pleading competition that is pending for all students who are matriculated at a Swiss law faculty (and have not yet completed their Master's degree). It offers them the opportunity to put into practice the knowledge they have acquired so far.
In the first round, the teams, consisting of two to four people, write an appeal and a response to an appeal on a given case.
The twelve best teams qualify for the oral round at the Federal Supreme Court in Lucerne. There they will make their pleas in front of a jury passed by federal judges, lawyers and law professors. Not only the validity of the arguments presented, but also the persuasiveness and rhetoric of the speakers will be assessed. The two best teams then compete against each other in the final.
The universities award European credit transfer systems for participation in the Swiss Moot Court.
