Master's degree
The Master's degree program is a postgraduate degree program at the Faculty of Law of the University of Basel. It is primarily intended for holders of foreign degrees and lasts two semesters. The prerequisite for admission to a Master's degree program is a qualified law degree from a higher education institution in Switzerland or abroad and sufficient knowledge of German.
The Master's degree program serves the purpose of in-depth academic study in a major subject, which can be freely chosen by the Master's student in consultation with the respective lecturer. The focus is on the written work (Master's thesis) in the chosen field. In addition, students must complete 20 credit hours per week. These can be spread over two semesters.
