Algorithmic systems, often referred to as "artificial intelligence," are having an ever greater influence on our society, everyday life, and individual rights. In legal terms, transparency requirements and protection against discrimination and manipulation are of particular interest. How should Swiss law respond to these challenges?

Internationally, regulatory efforts are advancing. The Federal Council recently decided that Switzerland should participate in Council of Europe negotiations on a binding legal framework for the application of AI. This is intended to develop a future international regulatory framework based on existing law. Innovations are to be promoted while at the same time ensuring respect for human rights.

The current challenges in the development of a legal framework for AI will be addressed by the event of the research project "Legal Framework for Artificial Intelligence in Switzerland", which is funded by the Mercator Switzerland Foundation.

Admission is free. The number of participants is limited.
