Panel: Absenteeism - background, manifestations, help
In recent years, there has been an increase in cases where children and young people are no longer attending school, whether for a few days or weeks. Especially since the corona pandemic, an increase in school absenteeism has been registered in many cantons. The reasons for this development are varied and individual (psychological situation of the children, family constellations, school pressure, etc.).
The Center for Family Sciences and the Youth, Family and Sport Department of the Canton of Basel-Stadt Department of Education want to address this current and important topic in a panel discussion, as school absenteeism affects both families and school authorities intensively. After two introductory presentations, experts and a former direct victim will discuss school absenteeism.
The event is aimed at professionals and teachers who come into contact with school absenteeism, as well as affected families.
The discussion will be followed by an aperitif where discussions can be continued and there will be an opportunity for networking.
