In the latest issue of the SJZ, Nadja Braun Binder and Liliane Obrecht discuss "rulings" and algorithmic systems. The ruling is the most important and an extremely fascinating instrument of public administration. It allows authorities to unilaterally determine the rights and duties of those affected. The use of algorithmic systems now poses a challenge to the duty to justify such decrees. These challenges and possible solutions are described.
