The convention’s objectives are: Stimulating in-depth international debate on digitalization and automation in the public sector, with comparative and transnational perspectives.
Placing legal methodology at the core of the discussions, enabling systematic engagement with methodological approaches, their theoretical foundations, and their relevance for public law in algorithmically driven administrative environments.
Fostering international networking and collaboration to support cross-border research initiatives in this evolving field.
Beyond the academic program, DigiPub 2026 offers a friendly and open research environment that encourages idea exchange and lasting academic connections.
10 Minutes Presentation
10 Minutes Feedback & Discussion (led by an assigned participant)
We are very happy to announce that the University of Basel, the Basel alumni association PRO IURE, and the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) have generously agreed to fund our workshop.
We are able to cover the following costs for all participants not residing in Basel:
Accommodation: We have already reserved two nights for you in a single bedroom at IBIS Budget Basel City Hotel, which is just a 2 minutes walk away from the Faculty of Law.
We can only cover the cost of two nights’ accommodation. If you plan to arrive in Basel before Wednesday, July 8, or leave after Friday, July 10, the extra nights will be at your own expense. We encourage you to approach your universities or research centers regarding possible funding for extra nights.
Booking: You are responsible for booking your own travel arrangements (train and/or plane tickets). Please do so as soon as possible. Moreover, in line with our goal to reduce the workshop’s environmental footprint, we strongly encourage travelling by train whenever possible.
Once booked, please fill out the Expense Statement form and send it to digipub@proton.me to complete to request reimbursement.
As previously mentioned, we’ll cover the dinners (8 and 9 July) and the lunches (9 and 10 July) we enjoy together, as well as snacks, coffee, and tea during breaks. Please don’t forget to bring your water bottle. We strongly encourage to drink tap water and therefore will not provide bottled water.
We will book the restaurants for dinners. Please kindly let us know of any dietary restrictions or allergies as soon as possible, so that we can accommodate them.
Please note that lunch on Wednesday, July 8, is not included, as the workshop will begin at 13:00.
Mission: We want to make our research and findings accessible to a broader audience. We therefore intend to publish summaries of each presentation as LinkedIn posts. Each presentation is summarized by a different attendee who also takes a photo of the presentation. We will post both - text and photo - on the DigiPub LinkedIn-Profile separately but immediately after DigiPub. This is a lowlevel alternative to publishing a traditional conference volume.
Before DigiPub: Each presenter is assigned a summarizer (another attendee) who will write the LinkedIn post. Get to know your presenter/summarizer soon.
While DigiPub: Attend the presentation and take notes. Take a photo of the presenter. Write a summary. Check both with the presenter for content and consent and send it to digipub@proton.com before DigiPub ends.
Structure: Catchy headline with the presenter's name and topic followed by 3-5 short paragraphs (core findings, methodology, practical implications) finished with 1 quote or main message:
Hallucinations and modern threats to judicial independence: @Julia Ruf examines, through constitutional interpretation, what requirements and limits arise de lege lata from the situational concretization of judicial independence and impartiality – particularly with regard to the use of AI systems by judges. What I take away from this: Independence may require courts to be able to recognise the use of AI in the submissions they receive. 📷: Julia shows her flowchart of functions |
