Study JUS in Basel and the world is pending for you!

With studies in law, you have one of the most versatile trainings of all. Lawyers are in demand everywhere, not just as lawyers or judges. Legal training is much more than that. Do you want to work in a large commercial enterprise? Of course. Many CEOs and managers are lawyers. Or do you want to become a politician? The Faculty of Law has already produced many members of government, the National Council and the Council of States. Even future members of the Federal Council have completed their studies with us. And that's just a tiny fraction of what you can do with a JUS degree. Incidentally, lawyers who have studied in Basel are among the most sought-after graduates in Switzerland.

Law briefly explained

Nothing works without JUS. Law creates the basis for people to live together and forms the basis for society. They create basic rules for almost everything and formulate the laws according to which something should function. This is why studying JUS is one of the degree subjects with the best career and income prospects.

Modern building, central location

The Faculty of Law is equipped with seminar rooms, a cafeteria, an extensive library and modern technology. If you live outside Basel, it is only an 8-minute walk from the SBB train station. The university's large lecture halls are just 10 minutes away on the 30 bus, which runs every 4 minutes at peak times.

Broad-based bachelor's studies

During your undergraduate studies (2 semesters), you will learn everything you need to know to become a good lawyer. We support you with additional learning opportunities such as tutorials in small groups or you can take part in a simulated court hearing in moot courts. Things get really interesting in the advanced studies (4 semesters). Here you will acquire all the skills you need and gain more insight into practice.

High practical relevance in master's studies

In master's studies, the groups are much smaller and the support is more individual. The lecturers accompany you to the Master's degree. The subjects will be even more interesting than in the bachelor's studies, ranging from digitalization to life sciences. You can choose from various specializations or complete one of our fixed Master's degrees - whichever suits you best. Because many of our lecturers come from a practical background, you will have the perfect insight into the working world that awaits you.

We help you start your career

Are you looking for your first work experience as an internship or part-time job? Or are you already looking to start your career? The Faculty of Law can help you. With the basel lawjob fair, it has created the ideal platform to connect law students and graduates with employers. Graduates of the Faculty of Law Basel are among the most sought-after JUS graduates in Switzerland.
